January fishing on the Uncompahgre

By admin - Posted on 29 January 2011

My friend Carl and I pounded up a bunch of fish at Pa-Co and Billy Creek on the Uncompahgre this week.  We headed out on a cold morning just to get out of the valley and were pleasantly surprised to catch quite a few nice rainbows and one brown (on a big streamer).  Most of our fish were caught on Zebra Midges and other tiny midge imitations, but one decent brown ate a double bunny streamer.  It would have been a decent day in July, let alone January.  -- Wyatt Listrom, T.O. guide
