protect what we love
Gunnison Gorge Anglers
Cornerstone of local river conservation, Gunnison Gorge Anglers has worked closely with Telluride Outside to promote, fund and execute conservation projects on the Gunnison, Dolores, Uncompahgre and San Miguel, highlighted by our award-winning partnership to restore the San Miguel to its original streambed on Telluride’s iconic Valley floor, a project spanning 8 years that earned awards for both Gunnison Gorge Anglers and Telluride Outside.
Locally, statewide and nationally, Trout Unlimited is our most important cold water conservation organization. From lobbying in Washington D.C. to river cleanups in Southwest Colorado, Trout Unlimited is the primary conduit for protecting what we love. Telluride Outside is a “Trout Unlimited Business” that recently earned the widely respected “Exemplary Outfitter” award.
San Miguel Watershed Coalition
Giving voice to all stakeholders in our watershed, San Miguel Watershed Coalition is the crucible for sustainable conservation practices and partnerships that support our agricultural, economic and recreational livelihoods in San Miguel and Montrose Counties. From water use to river cleanups, San Miguel Watershed Coalition provides the ties that bind.
Sheep Mountain Alliance
Since 1988, Sheep Mountain Alliance has been our diehard watchdog for conservation opportunities in public lands, energy, wildlife and water.
Science on the Fly
Started here in Telluride by Troy Youngfleish, co-owner of Telluride Outside, and Max Holmes of the Woodwell Climate Change Research Center, Science on the Fly tests river chemistry on more than 200 rivers on 5 continents to evaluate the need for policy change to benefit water quality, fish habitat and climate-sensitive watershed conditions. Science on the Fly is now managed by Allie Cunningham, longtime local, friend and former Telluride Outside staff person.
